Welcome to Our Church
New to our church? There is so much going on, and so much to share with you about us, but the best way to discover more about SBC is to come and join us.
SBC consists of two united fellowships, one in Portree, the other in Dunvegan. We have three services each Sunday, one in Portree at 11am, and one in Dunvegan at 11am. We have an evening service in Portree at 6pm on Sunday evenings. The last week of the month, the evening service is held in Dunvegan at 6pm. Each service lasts approximately one hour.
During the morning services we have meetings for youth, a Sunday school and a creche for the younger ones.
Our worship is free and informal, being led by a worship group of talented musicians and singers. The sermons are challenging, and firmly biblically based.
Besides the Sunday morning services we have home groups that meet in different locations throughout the island. We believe these small meetings are an essential part of creating and maintaining the church community. They are times for informal chat, deepening friendships, prayer and study.
In addition to the home groups we run various study courses for those wanting to enter into a growing relationship with Jesus, and we have regular prayer meetings to intercede for those in need.
Each Friday in Portree we have an informal ‘coffee pot’ where anyone can drop in and chat, play pool, and generally have a great time. It’s a friendly informal atmosphere where you can make and renew friendships each week.
There are also other ministries that run on a weekly basis within the Portree premises, from the ‘Road to Recovery’ addiction programme, YMCA youth outreach, to mother and toddler, and various social events.
Every Tuesday afternoon between 1pm and 3.30pm in the Lochside Centre, Dunvegan we have ‘Take a Break’. Come and join us for tea, coffee and cakes. We have toys available for young children, everybody is welcome and we would love to see you. So come and join us for a cuppa! We also have a weekly house group that meets in the Lochside Centre at 7.30pm every Thursday. Every Friday from 7 until 9.30 we have a social evening of relaxing, playing pool or darts, dominoes, or just sitting chatting. Everyone is welcome to join us.
We are a lively friendly church and would love to meet you.
Please come and join us.
